| PhotoWiki - PhotoArticles - PhotoBlinkBackground Photoblink background is actually a ... hologram that I designed with the Holomaster 2 program. I wrote Holomaster several years ago, but it still is a respected software package for designing computer generated holograms: http://www.okotech.com/software/holomaster
The left picture is the original hologram for the 5x11 fan-out on the right. Simply speaking, if you shine the laser beam through the hologram using the optical setup shown below, in the focal plane of the lens you'll have your laser beam split into two 5x11 rectangles of laser beams.
Such holographic elements are called laser beam splitters. They are usually designed using computers and called Computer Generated Holograms (CGI). A spacial distribution of dots of any shapes and intensities can be designed using Holomaster. The idea of using a CGH as a background was initiated by a periodical nature of the holograms, i.e. when tiled they will be completely seamless. Initially I was thinking of encripting the PhotoBlink or PB words in the hologram, but I didn't like resulting patterns. You can easily make the hologram shown above. Simply tile it 4-6 times, and high quality print it on a transparency. Or print it on a A4 sheet and take a picture of it on a negative or positive film. The size of the resultant mask should be around 1-1.5 cm. Then take a laser, 2 lenses (one will also do) and the mask and you'll be able to reproduce the result straight away PhotoWiki - PhotoArticles - PhotoBlinkBackground |
